Before Hiring Servcom USA, AME, Inc.’s IT Director Was Overworked
“I’m not your typical IT director,” says Nickie. “I do everything.”
As AME, Inc.’s only internal IT personnel, Nickie has a big job. While someone in their position could insist on taking a more high-level approach to their work, Nickie has maintained an active and committed presence in the company. She handles everything from training to setting up computers and phones.
Eventually, however, the scope of their work began to outpace them. After all, one person only has so much time in a day; an active construction firm like AME, Inc. required more extensive IT support. That’s when Nickie called Servcom USA.
“I found Servcom USA about two years in,” says Nickie. “I realized that the company is so large, and there are so many aspects to what I do that I had to have help. One person could not do it all by themselves.”
Working with Servcom USA gives AME, Inc. the best of both internal and outsourced IT support. This arrangement allows them to take advantage of the expertise and skill of a team of IT specialists when needed, and without paying expensive salaries or benefits.
“I hired Servcom USA to come in and help me,” says Nickie. “From that, it grew and grew, until Servcom USA had taken on a larger role because I was beating my head against the wall trying to keep up with everything.”
Servcom USA Is An Extension Of Nickie’s Capabilities — Not A Replacement
“They never even once tried to take over anything — it’s only when I call them for help,” says Nickie. “Servcom is the best.”
People often assume that outsourcing IT support means replacing their current IT staff. Too many businesses and their IT personnel think that support is either 100% internal or 100% external.
IT Directors like Nickie could worry that the wrong third party will cause more problems than they solve, leaving internal IT personnel like themselves to blame. Business owners and managers don’t want to consider working with third parties because they assume it means laying off their internal staff members.
But that’s not how it has to be — Servcom USA functions as an extension of AME, Inc.’s IT support, providing extra assistance when Nickie needs it. This is far more cost-effective than trying to hire that level of IT support internally.
“When my hands are full, I can call them for help, and they’re right there,” says Nickie.

“I’m thankful that I’ve got these guys,” says Nickie. “They’re extremely good.”
Recently, Nickie began considering early retirement. Without Servcom USA as her partner in AME, Inc.’s IT support, the decision would have been a lot more difficult for her to make.
“It’s running very smoothly,” says Nickie. “Everybody at the company knows them, so we know it’ll be an easy transition.”
When considering whether to recommend that AME, Inc. hire another IT Director, or simply have Servcom USA take over IT management and control, Nickie found it to be an easy call to make. In her time working with Servcom USA, they’ve consistently demonstrated a committed and responsive work ethic in everything they do for AME, Inc.
“Given all the aspects that Servcom USA is involved in at AME, Inc., I just thought it was best to let Servcom USA take over,” says Nickie. “They’ve taken the bull by the horns.”
Currently, Nickie is still overseeing the transition, keeping an eye on support tickets, and ensuring that the Servcom USA team knows everything they need to in order to take care of AME, Inc. after she’s retired. Thanks to Servcom USA’s consistent quality of support, she’s not worried about how AME, Inc. will fare after she’s moved on.
“They have been so diligent, and they have worked so hard,” says Nickie. “They are a tremendous group, and I respect them highly.”
